The Project

"The Western Australian Police Services were faced with an issue of wet surfaces in their north west
police stations causing mould to grow on ceilings and walls. The health and safety implications lead
to staff HR situation that required urgent attention.
WA Police Services engaged “dsa Consulting” to investigate the cause and design a solution to the
problem, dsa called on the assistance of Munters to provide options for dehumidifying equipment.
Subsequently the project was tendered and RCR Infrastructure - Haden was appointed as the
installation contractor."

Munter's Contribution

"Munter’s were engaged by Haden to provide several “DryCool” Fresh air pre-cooler units.
DryCool combines the benefits of desiccant dehumidification with the cooling of DX air
conditioners to pre-treat the makeup air (fresh air intake) before it is brought into the building,
removing the moisture before it becomes a problem.

Conventional air conditioning systems do not effectively control humidity and the recent changes to required fresh air intake rates mean that DX air conditioning operate poorly in high humidity areas.

These units operate cost-efficiently because all of the
energy required for the operation of the desiccant
dehumidifier is recycled from the cooling components.

When there is a call for cooling only, DryCool lowers energy
consumed because the COP (Coefficient of Performance)
is higher than a traditional air conditioning system."
